Bronx Zoo is the Largest Zoo in the USA

The Bronx Zoo is a historic zoo located in the Bronx, New York City. The zoo was originally opened on November 12, 1876, and is the largest zoo in the United States, with 1,704 acres (7.87 km2) in total. The zoo is home to more than 4,000 animals from all over the world, including the world's first permanently bred, endangered species, the Amur tiger. The Bronx Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

In 1876, the city of New York and the Bronx Zoological Society established the Bronx Zoo. Initial funding for the zoo came from the city and private donations. The zoo was originally located on Third Avenue in the Bronx, near the present-day intersection of Westchester Avenue and West 254th Street. In 1904, the zoo moved to a new location on Forest Avenue in the Bronx. In 1927, the zoo opened its current site on Park Avenue in the Bronx, which had been leased from the city. It is just a short walk from the Botanical Garden and is easily accessible by subway, bus, or car.

In 1984, the zoo opened its African Forest exhibit, which was the first exhibit in the United States dedicated to the study and preservation of African wildlife. The exhibit was designed by Roy Chapman Andrews and modeled after the Giraffe Valley exhibit at the London Zoo. The exhibit features more than 200 species of animals, including lions, elephants, and gorillas. The Bronx Zoo also has a large number of plants. Some of the plants that you'll find at the Bronx Zoo include philodendrons, cacti, and bromeliads. 

Today, the Bronx Zoo is a world-renowned tourist destination. It is the largest zoo in the United States and the sixth-largest zoo in the world. The zoo is home to more than 4,000 animals from all over the world, including the world's first permanently bred, endangered species, the Amur tiger. The Bronx Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. 

This is a great place to visit if you're interested in animals or plants. It's also a great place to visit if you're interested in history. It is home to a lot of historical items, including a hippopotamus from the exhibition "River of Life: A Journey Through the Wilds of Africa."

Admission to the zoo is free. It is open from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Saturday and from noon to 4 pm on Sundays. It is closed on Christmas, New Year's Day, and Easter.
